Expiration of credit card authorization

When do credit card authorizations expire?

The authorization hold time is completely dependent on the issuing bank. Most major bank authorizations are valid for 3-5 days, allowing the merchant time to ship an order and collect payment before the authorization expires and funds are released back into your account. Some banks may require 8-10 business days while international banks often hold authorizations for up to 30 days.
