Pulse kick pedal assembly guide

How do I assemble my Pulse kick pedal?

Step 1

Your pedal may have arrived with the cam and spring already set up. Compare your pedal to Figures 1 and 2. If the pedal is set up as depicted in Figure 2, skip ahead to step 4. Otherwise, simply continue with step 1.

For double pedals: Note that the primary pedal will have a spring on each side. The secondary pedal only has one spring.

Step 2

Rotate the cam counter-clockwise (the top moves toward the back, or heel of the pedal) until it is at the position depicted inFigure 2. While holding the cam in this position, attach the spring as depicted in Figure 2.

For double pedals: Repeat this step on all springs on both pedals.

Step 3

Compare your pedal's setup to Figure 3. If your pedal is set up like Figure 3, you have rotated the cam in the wrong direction. Disconnect the spring and try step 2 again.

For double pedals: Do the same comparison for both pedals.

Step 4

Depress the pedal a few times. If the pedal seems to slip or it doesn't have enough tension, use the following adjustments to obtain the desired feel for the pedal:

Note: Before making adjustments, ensure that the beater is in the correct position and the foot pedal is at the desired angle.

To prevent slippage, tighten the screw circled on the right in Figure 4For double pedals: The primary pedal has two screws (as pictured in Figure 4). The secondary pedal only has one.

To adjust the tension, adjust the tension bolt by hand (on the right in Figure 5). Loosen the smaller screw on top, and adjust the bottom bolt to set the tension. Once a desired tension is found, tighten the smaller screw on the top to lock the bolt in place.

For double pedals: This procedure needs to be done for each spring on both pedals.

Note: The spur circled on the left in Figure 5 is used to dig into the floor to reduce mobility of the pedal. Each pedal will have two spurs.

Your Pulse single pedal is now ready!

For double pedals: Proceed to steps 5 and 6.

Step 5

The primary and secondary pedals need to be attached to each other via the drive shaft (long bar between the two pedals in Figure 6).

Each pedal has a post on the side, which are circled on the far left and far right in Figure 6. These posts have a round side and a flat side.

Attach the drive shaft to the primary pedal’s post (circled on the far right of Figure 6), and tighten the screw on the end of the drive shaft (inner right circle in Figure 6). Note that this screw should press against the flat side of the post.

Before connecting the other side of the drive shaft, ensure that the secondary beater on the primary pedal is in the desired position. Connect the other end of the drive shaft in the same manner as previously described.

Step 6

If a longer or shorter drive shaft is desired, loosen the two screws in the middle circle of Figure 7. Pull the center shaft outward or push it inward to get the desired length. Tighten the two screws to set the length.

Your Pulse double pedal is now ready to play!
