Standard vs. Fusion Drums
What is the difference between Standard and Fusion drum sets?
The difference between these two kits are the drum sizes. These can slightly vary with each manufacturer, but the most common sizes are as follows:
Standard 5-Piece:
-12x9 and 13x10 Mounted Toms
-16x16 Floor Tom
-22x18 or 22x16 Kick
-5-1/2x14 Snare
Fusion 5-Piece:
-10x8, 12x9, and 14x12 Mounted Toms
-22x18 or 22x16 Kick
-5-1/2x14 Snare
Usually the only sizes that do change are the toms. A fusion drum set will have smaller sizes compared to a standard drum set. Fusion set ups are commonly used in jazz and other acoustic arrangements. Standard set ups are commonly found in today's Rock music. Either way, music is meant to be experimented with. You can use either kit for any genre of music.
