What are the differences between red brass, rose brass, gold brass, and yellow brass?

All brass instruments are made from an alloy consisting mainly of copper and zinc.  Standard brass usually has about 70% copper and 30% zinc.  This is often called yellow brass.  This material has a lively sound and a solid tone.

Gold brass, rose brass, and red brass all have a higher copper content.  This material has a warmer, darker, sound with greater carrying power.
