The Spark-O-Matic’s Well-Built Body

The Jazzmaster was introduced in 1958, three months after Sputnik 1 headed for orbit, starting the space race. The Spark-O-Matic’s offset body fits right in that era. But under the hood, there is a major modern update—the “wings” are chambered ash. You’ll hear more resonance, and enjoy the weight-saving results, too. The guitar’s core is mahogany—rare for a Fender. It provides a nice midrange and a boost of sustain.

Versatile Electronics

The Spark-O-Matic sports 3 Seymour Duncan mini-humbuckers. Each coil in SM-3B bridge pickup is overwound, producing a natural openness with grit. The neck and middle position SM-1N pickups provide the high-end of a single-coil while retaining the snarl of a humbucker.  It’s a combination we think you’ll like. The 5-way selector makes the Spark-O-Matic even more versatile.

Hardware You Can Count On

Fender outfitted this Parallel Universe model with an American Professional Jazzmaster bridge.  Brass saddles will keep your strings stable, and you’ll be able to personalize the tension of the new arm. Keep it loose if your trem use is spartan, or tight if you go surf-crazy on every line. ClassicGear tuners maintain the vintage look of the Spark-O-Matic, but have a modern 18:1 tuning ratio.
