The marching band is a unique musical environment, and it takes a unique kind of instrument to stand up to the demands of playing in one. Yamaha took that into account when designing their marching gear and it definitely shows. These instruments are built around the key elements of marching band performance: the projection to fill stadiums with sound, the durability to handle long road trips with ease and the ability to be easily carried for long stretches of time - all of that, with no compromises on sound quality. Some of the most noticeable differences between marching and standard instruments are found in the brass section, with marching euphoniums, French horns, tubas and mellophones. Rearranged tubing and mouthpiece direction makes these alternative versions of the instruments much more practical to carry during marching. Tubas and euphoniums are also available in convertible versions, which allow them to be reconfigured between marching and concert versions.
When it comes to percussion, you'll find all the usual suspects in Yamaha's lineup, from bass drums to snares and toms. There's also the Multi-Application Xylophone for percussion keyboard players. Covers, drum hoops, snare projectors, percussion mallets and carriers are all part of the selection as well, so Yamaha has your back when it comes to drumming essentials.
For larger, specialty marching band equipment, sometimes carrying isn't practical. To help with these sorts of items, Yamaha makes Tough Terrain Frames for bass drums, gongs, chimes, marimbas and vibraphones. These frames are strong enough to carry instruments too big or heavy for band members, and their big, knobby wheels roll easily over any ground.
With Yamaha marching band equipment and instruments, you can be confident that your band is more than ready to take on its next big event. Built to be as reliable as possible, this gear allows high school, college and military bands to focus entirely on what matters: mastering the drill sequences and perfecting the music.
