One of the most useful microphone accessories is the pop filter. It is a layer of nylon stretched over a circular frame with an adjustable mounting bracket so that it can be attached to a microphone stand. The purpose of the pop filter is to shield the microphone from a burst of air pressure sometimes caused when singers sing words beginning with "p" or "b". The sensitive microphone will "clip" when the air hits the sensitive internal membrane.
