Ever since their 1982 debut, Warwick bass guitars have been widely respected for their outstanding build quality and design chops, as well as the great tone that comes as a result of those high standards. A Warwick 5-string electric bass is the sort of instrument that, once you've tried it, you may not want to play any other bass ever again. You don't need to look very far to find examples of Warwick basses taking the stage. The Thumb 5, for example, is played by Jeff Abercrombie of Fuel and Ryan Martinie of Mudvayne. This bass comes in neck-through or bolt-on varieties, straight from Warwick's German factory with a distinctive combination of tonewoods that keep it growly all the way down through the B string. The incredible sustain of the Thumb has been a benchmark of bass design for years, used to great effect by musicians like Jorge Casas with Gloria Estefan & The Miami Sound Machine to help lay the groundwork for modern pop music.

Another of Warwick's original models is the Corvette, which you can see onstage today with bassists like Dick Lovgren of Meshuggah. Like any Warwick bass, the Corvette offers the rumbling lows and precise highs to power through any set. If you want to go all-out, consider reserving yourself the German edition. If you're a hobbyist or a beginner, the Rockbass model Corvettes make this amazing instrument a bit more accessible. You'll also find a Rockbass version of the Streamer, which is the bass to look at if you like P.O.D. or Limp Bizkit. Traa Daniels and Sam Rivers each play 5-string Streamers, which should give you an idea of the sounds you can push with one of your own.

Warwick doesn't overlook a single detail when they build a 5-string electric bass - not even the environment; they get their wood from sustainable forests and use carbon-neutral manufacturing processes. That's just one more reason to be proud of your new Warwick bass. The main reason, though, is something you'll hear from the first note you play: the powerful Warwick sound that appeals to bassists everywhere.
