Vintage '70s fuzz tone and sustain with intuitive controls.
The Catalinbread StarCrash fuzz pedal brings vintage '70s fuzz tone into the modern age. Designed for guitarists chasing iconic rock sounds, the StarCrash provides maximum sustain and harmonic richness. Forget that goofy fuzz knob—the StarCrash lets you dial in texture with a Bias control, from raw and brawny to lean and harmonically rich. Engage the Low-Cut control to cut bass frequencies from 40Hz to 500Hz, allowing you to shape your tone. While the bias and filter controls affect volume, the StarCrash offers more volume than typical fuzz pedals so you can push your amp.
Vintage-Inspired Fuzz
The StarCrash is inspired by fuzz pedals of the 1970s, an era that produced some of rock's most sought-after tones. Catalinbread started with the classic fuzz circuit but updated it for modern players. They got rid of the fuzz knob since most guitarists run it fully clockwise, instead adding a Bias control to simulate a dying battery. Turn it down for a full, throaty fuzz or up for a sputtery, velcro-like fuzz. The Low-Cut control engages a high-pass filter to cut frequencies below 30Hz, allowing you to shape your tone.
Simple But Powerful Controls
Despite its vintage inspiration, the StarCrash features an intuitive control set. The Volume control functions as you'd expect, allowing you to boost your signal to push your amp. The Bias control lets you choose between distortion-like or velcro fuzz tones. At minimum, the fuzz is full and throaty, while at maximum it's sputtery and velcro-esque. The Low-Cut control cuts bass frequencies, removing subharmonic mud when below 12 o'clock while cutting more drastically higher up.
Authentic '70s Styling
The StarCrash looks the part of a vintage fuzz pedal thanks to its retro-inspired graphics and colors. The pedal features an iconic '70s-style design with classic knob and switch placement. The graphics reinforce the vintage vibe with retro text, colors and lines. If you're after vintage tone and aesthetics, the StarCrash delivers.
