If you were to trace Kustom amplifiers and effects back through the years, you'd find a pretty rich history dating from the 1960s, which was an amazing decade for amps thanks in part to the role that Kustom had to play. They debuted with a 2x15" amp and were quick to gain a reputation for showing just how good a solid-state amplifier can sound. Kustom was one of the first amp builders to prove that you don't necessarily need tubes to get great tone.

If you're looking for your first amplifier, there are a few things to consider. The biggest is probably to simply decide what kind of amp is right for you, and chances are pretty high that will be a combo amp. These are all-in-one units that pack speakers and electronics into a single enclosure, which makes them perfect for jam sessions, rehearsals and busking, as well as the majority of venues. With a Kustom combo amplifier, you can just "grab 'n' go" to every gig without needing to bring a whole lot of heavy gear.

Of course, once you start thinking about bigger spaces that need more power to fill with sound, then discrete amp heads start to come into their own. Kustom has several to choose from, like the KB200HR for bass and the KG100HFX for guitar. The built-in effects in these heads give them the ability to keep your pedal board load-out relatively light, but they'll also work brilliantly with your favorite pedals when you want the ultimate customization for your tone.

To go with a Kustom amp head, you'll need a speaker cabinet. The KG412 is an excellent choice to start off your search here, with 120 watts of power-handling through four beefy drivers. You can also find the KG412 guitar speaker cabinet in a pre-packaged bundle with the KG100HFX head, which is the perfect way to skip the legwork normally involved in building a half-stack setup.

There's a lot of expertise standing behind Kustom amplifiers, built up through decades of creating the amps used by musicians like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Sheryl Crow, Johnny Cash and the Jackson 5. You'll find the payoff for all that experience in the lineup of amplifiers and effects they have to choose from today, which can absolutely satisfy any playing style and preferences.
