Overview

A fully loaded modulation effects pedal for endless soundscaping options.

The Walrus Audio Mako M1 High-Fidelity effects pedal is a powerful multi-function modulation machine with six customized, studio-quality programs: Chorus, Phaser, Tremolo, Vibe, Rotary and Filter. Each program has a wealth of options to tune, tweak, customize and then save to one of nine onboard presets. Experiment with different options including Shape, which uses sine, triangle or square LFO wave shapes to modulate your signal; Division, which sets the LFO speed when tapping a tempo; and Type, to choose one of the three different variations for each of the Mako M1’s programs. For additional sound exploration, the Mako M1 features a dedicated lo-fi knob, allowing you to mix various lo-fi parameters to every program, as well as Tone and Symmetry customizations. Add subtle movement and texture to float under your playing, or make a massive statement with a thick swirling chorus to choppy panning tremolo.

Chorus

Dial in everything from subtle, vibey chorus to lush ’80s-style tri-chorus. The X knob controls Lag to set the maximum allowed amount of pitch detuning.

Type I: Traditional chorus great for tight, smooth chorus tones
Type II: Adds a second chorus in series with an offset rate and depth
Type III: Rooted in classic tri-chorus effects running three units in parallel for lush, multi-dimensional sounds

Phaser

Enjoy classic ’70s phaser sounds, plus added features for endless soundscaping potentials. The X knob introduces Feedback for a more dramatic phaser effect.

Type I: A 2-stage Phaser that produces a single notch to the classic mild phaser
Type II: A 4-stage model producing two notches for a stronger effect
Type III: Modeled after the unique tuning and LFO shape found in a Uni-Vibe

Tremolo

Adjust your sound with a range of rhythm and frequency effects. The X knob manipulates the phase of the left and right volume modulation for a wide stereo panning effect.

Type I: Traditional sounds that raise and lower the entire frequency range
Type II: A warm and cozy harmonic, formed by raising and lowering the high and low frequencies opposite each other
Type III: Multiple predefined patterns for rhythmic, sequenced pulsing tremolos

Vibrato

Channel ’60s vibes with these detuned, warbly and vintage sounds. The X knob manipulates the phase of the pitch modulation and the amount of “flutter.”

Type I: Traditional vibrato, as in the Julia and Julianna’s “V” mode
Type II: Classic RPMs on the rate knob and noise character inspired by old LPs
Type III: The wow and flutter pitch of old tape players, delivering warm and charming tones with a hint of nostalgia

Rotary

Bring the sound of a Leslie speaker to your pedalboard. The X knob controls the drive of the horn.

Type I: The traditional watery sound of a well-oiled Leslie speaker
Type II: Only spins the horn but still plays the sound out of the drum
Type III: Only spins the drum but still plays sound from the horn

Filter

Add tone-shaping movement to your signal with different modulated filters. The X knob controls filter resonance, while Tone controls the filter’s center frequency, or starting frequency where the modulation is applied.

Type I: A lowpass filter good for modulated darker tones
Type II: A highpass filter used to creatively modulate low frequencies
Type III: A bandpass filter forming a sliding “window” of frequencies
