65amps has a simple design philosophy: that you shouldn't have to sacrifice modern features and durability in order to have an amplifier with the rich, vintage tone of classic 1960s rock and roll. The versatile dynamic range of 65amps' drivers makes any of their amplifiers ready to take to the stage, studio or simply set up in the garage for an impromptu rehearsal or jam session. Although their sound is a throwback to decades ago, 65amps was founded in 2002 by Dan Boul and Peter Stroud. If you've never heard of Peter Stroud, you might be more familiar with some of the artists he's toured with: Don Henley, Stevie Nicks and Sheryl Crow. Stroud's goal with 65amps, after joining forces with Boul, was to capture the unmistakeable tone of a big vintage tube amp in a smaller package that guitarists and bassists could play at lower volumes in smaller venues. The first 65amps products hit the market in 2005, and they've been adding amp heads and speaker cabinets to their catalog ever since.
To achieve their goal of embodying the feel of '60s rock, 65amps starts out with premium components and hand-crafted construction, resulting in a look and feel that's second to none. The sound is unmatched as well, for example, the Stone Pony 25W Combo Amp is packed with 12" Celestion drivers for resounding bass performance and the unique 7591 power tube, which creates fuzzy distortion that will instantly bring to mind the 1960s-era Stones and Faces.
If you're looking for a combo amp that's powerful yet ultra-portable, take a look at the Ventura 112. Packing a 12" driver and 20W of power into an amp not much bigger than a briefcase, this all-in-one performer can create American and British-inspired tones with equal ease. Being so easy to pick up and carry from gig to gig while making no compromises on sound quality, the Ventura 112 is one of the headliners of the 65amps lineup.
All that it takes to understand the quality of 65amps is to skim a list of the artists who use them, such as Vince Gill and the Black Keys' Dan Auerbach. In fact, most of Bruce Springsteen's "Magic" album was recorded on a 65amps London. With seals of approval from some of the world's most discerning musicians, it's not so much a question of what 65amps can do for you, but instead what amazing things you can do with 65amps.
