Peavey is a hard name to miss when it comes to amplifiers, and although it's now among the largest makers of amp and speaker equipment in the world, the company comes from humble beginnings. The story began with Hartley Peavey, who founded Peavey in 1965, and swiftly earned a reputation for the quality of his work. That reputation carries on today, with Peavey amps appearing on stages all over the world. Some of Peavey's most legendary models are the 6505 series of amplifiers and cabinets. These use the same electronics under the hood that Peavey developed in collaboration with Eddie Van Halen for the original 5150 line. The 6505 Plus, like the 5150 II it's based on, uses an extra preamp tube to increase gain and headroom, while the 6534 uses the same design but has the 6L6 power tubes swapped out for EL34s instead to deliver a more British sound.
