Peavey is a hard name to miss when it comes to amplifiers, and although it's now among the largest makers of amp and speaker equipment in the world, the company comes from humble beginnings. The story began with Hartley Peavey, who founded Peavey in 1965, and swiftly earned a reputation for the quality of his work. That reputation carries on today, with Peavey amps appearing on stages all over the world. Some of Peavey's most legendary models are the 6505 series of amplifiers and cabinets. These use the same electronics under the hood that Peavey developed in collaboration with Eddie Van Halen for the original 5150 line. The 6505 Plus, like the 5150 II it's based on, uses an extra preamp tube to increase gain and headroom, while the 6534 uses the same design but has the 6L6 power tubes swapped out for EL34s instead to deliver a more British sound. If you're looking to recreate the classic sounds of some of history's greatest amps, check out the Vypyr series of modeling amplifiers. Not only can these emulate the 6505 and a ton of other Peavey amps, they also offer voicing for plenty of vintage classics such as the Fender twin and deluxe, Diezel Boutique, Krank Krankenstein and the Vox AC30.

Peavey didn't stop with guitars, of course?some of their most renowned amps are for the bass. Take the impressive Tour TNT for example: the 15" woofer pushing 600 rumbling Watts can deliver stack-force sound in a combo amp footprint. If you want the biggest stack around, try the Tour 700 rack-mountable bass amp head on for size. Put it together with the power-thirsty Black Widow woofers in the VB-115 and VB-215 cabinets, and you'll have bass sounds that could register on the Richter scale.

If you play the keyboard, there are Peavey amps for you as well, like the 150W KB 5. This twin-cabinet 4-channel amp setup features two 10" drivers. Peavey had touring in mind when they designed the amp, so they even added a pair of wheels and a handle to make it a breeze to roll onstage. Want to unlock the full potential of your new Peavey amp? Consider adding on one of their footswitches. The Sanpera I includes an expression pedal, looper and delay functions?or you can double up with the twin expression pedals and wider assortment of effects on the Sanpera II.

Whether you're on stage or in the studio, you can always count on great performance with a Peavey amplifier by your side. The reputation that Hartley Peavey has built in the five decades since he started his company is well-earned and well-deserved. Take one of these amps for a spin and you'll certainly see why.
