John Forster's lyric, using the names of 79 countries, and the famous music of Jacques Offenbach combine to create a wonderful new choral, The Picnic of the World. This piece was performed in MENC's 2003 world's largest concert and can be used as a wonderful opener to a multicultural-themed concert, or as a closer to bring the message of a united world. The unison and easy 2-part writing make it musically easy to learn while the students learn the many countries - familiar and unfamiliar. An awesome piece on so many educational levels!
