One of the great pleasures of owning a guitar or bass is the process of customizing it and making it truly your own. Of course, you don't necessarily need to modify it to do that - you can stake your claim over your instrument simply by the impression you make with it. But even if you keep your axe bone-stock, there may come a time when you need to replace some of its brackets and mounting rings, or the hardware that attaches them. And if you are a modder, then there's even more to love about this section: when you're building a new instrument from the ground up, or doing an extensive rebuild of a reclaimed vintage find, some of the hardware you might need is found right here.
It goes without saying that the best brackets and mounting rings for your specific instrument are going to depend on the pickups that are actually on it. When those are the factory pickups, then you're probably looking for OEM models like the 3/8" Gibson Bridge Pickup Mounting Ring or the 1/8" Gibson Neck Pickup Mounting Ring. These parts come on Gibson's signature red card with the "Genuine Gibson Parts" badging, so you'll know for sure that you're getting the real thing - which means a guitar that's historically accurate, with the value retention to match.
There is, of course, no obligation to stay totally genuine if you don't want to. For instance, maybe you want to dress up your guitar with a mounting ring in a color that the manufacturer doesn't offer? In that case, the third-party manufacturers have you covered. The DiMarzio Humbucker Mounting Ring is an OEM-quality part available for neck and bridge positions in lots of different colors, so you can really jazz up your stage presence. And the ProLine Pickup Mounting Ring 2 Pack is an affordable bundled set, which makes it a great choice for a practical, budget-minded build.
No matter how you like your brackets and mounting rings, there's almost certainly a set or an individual piece here ready to meet your needs. There are all kinds of colors and styles to choose from, as well as a collection of associated pickup mounting hardware so you can find all the essentials in one place. Put on your tinkerer's hat, break out the toolbox and get that guitar or bass on the workbench - and take the next step toward making it truly one-of-a-kind, or completing that authentic vintage rebuild.
