About Rode Microphones:

Sometimes the road to success is a bumpy one. That was certainly the case for Peter Freedman, who inherited a struggling electronics business from his father and, with hard work and determination, transformed it into one of the world's leading microphone manufacturers. The turning point came when Freedman decided to import some basic mics to expand his selection. Indulging his inner tinker, he opened them up and found that there was some real potential to turn those simple microphones into something way better. Fans called this mic the "Rodent-1", so Freedman officially named it the "Rode NT-1" - those were the very first Rode microphones.

You can still find the NT-1 in the Rode selection, but it's not a modified third-party mic anymore. Today, they're designed and built from the ground up in Rode's own factory. That goes for the whole lineup, which has been fleshed out with a wide variety of broadcast and studio models including the NTK, NT2-A, NT3 and even the Podcaster USB Microphone for online broadcasters. You'll also appreciate shotgun mics like the MTG1, 2 and 3 if you need a highly targeted pickup pattern, and for situations that call for the trusty handheld microphone, don't miss the M1, M2 and S1 Pro.

Are you interested in taking your recording on the go? For those of us who record with portable camcorders or DSLR cameras, built-in mics only go so far. Rode knows that better than anyone, so they've created the mobile-specific VideoMic series to bring professional audio quality to handheld video recording. Want to go even more portable than that? If so, check out the i-XYL Stereo Microphone or the smartLav+ Lavalier. They're designed for smartphones and tablets, so you can record on your own terms with your favorite device.

While you're browsing Rode microphones of all shapes and sizes, remember to take a look at accessories and starter packs as well. You'll find all of those here in this section, so it's a snap to get everything you need to begin recording with Rode. When you hear the impressive sound quality of your recordings after upgrading to Rode, you'll be glad that you did.
