STAR Mahogany 5-Piece Shell Pack with 22 in. Bass Drum

Mahogany wood is deeply rooted in the history of drum building, and TAMA seeks to honor that legacy with this STAR Mahogany 5-piece shell pack, the first entry of this classic wood into TAMA’s flagship line of professional drum kits.

Bringing out the best from a classic wood

The STAR line has always focused on resonance, with the shell thickness, ply count and bearing edge design all customized to bring out the best resonant qualities of each wood type. To highlight the deep, warm sound mahogany is known for, this kit is built with 7-ply, 6 mm thin shells that sound rich and full at any volume. STAR drums are crafted with a specialized rounded bearing edge to create more contact between the high-end Remo heads and shells, so vibration travels seamlessly from stick to head to wood. And to balance the tone and refine the sound without losing the sensitivity of a thin shell, each drum is fitted with TAMA’s proprietary Sound Reinforcement Rings.

Hardware designed for easy adjustment and perfect isolation

Like all STAR drums, this STAR Mahogany shell pack features TAMA’s Super Resonant Mounting System, developed specifically for this flagship line to maximize isolation. The system creates three points on contact with the die-cast drum hoops—two on the top, one on the bottom—to support the drum evenly and increase natural resonance. All contact points also use rubber to prevent vibration from passing to stands and other drums. And unlike many tom suspension mounts, this mounting system is discrete and slim in size, giving the gorgeous outer shells enough room to shine. Plus, thanks to the Quick-Lock system, you can set your tom positions and flip a switch, keeping all your setting in place even after multiple setups and breakdowns.

Stunning beauty, inside and out

Rather than relying on a wrap, TAMA adorned these mahogany shells with an outer ply of Quilted Sapele and finished them from a selection of lacquer options, each with the trademark diamond band and winged STAR logo. The inside of each shell is also meticulously finished by hand with oil. This creates a luxurious look from every angle.

This 5-piece shell pack includes 10 and 12" toms, 14 and 16" floor toms and a 22" kick drum with mounting hardware, floor tom legs and bass drum claws. Snare, cymbals and other hardware sold separately.
