Keeley effects pedals are the perfect example of what happens when two passions collide. The company's founder, Robert Keeley, started up his pedal business in 2001, shortly after graduating from Oklahoma University with a degree in electrical engineering. Roger aspired to create some of the best electronics in the music industry and originally planned to build amplifiers, but he soon realized that his expertise would be better applied to boutique effects pedals instead. Building pedals quickly became a labor of love for Keeley, who worked his way into the art by rebuilding and modifying other effects pedals until he was ready to design and build his own. Keeley's first unit was a boost pedal, and with every new model that the company has released since, they've become more and more influential in the effects pedal community. Within ten years of releasing their first product, Keeley had already found its way onto the pedalboards of artists as prominent as Brad Paisley and Peter Frampton.
One of Keeley's greatest credits is always having an ear turned to the music community. Going as far as referencing online discussion forums, the company browses feedback straight from guitarists themselves. Knowing exactly what professional musicians have to say about their effects helped Keeley to fine-tune each new design, culminating in their first homebrewed effect, the Katana Clean Boost pedal. That pedal has since been used by guitarists like Billy Gibbons and Dan Spitz, making it one of Keeley's best accomplishments.
Even more successful than the Katana is the compressor pedal for which Keeley is best known today. That's only scratching the surface of what Keeley effects pedals are capable of, however, and there are a ton of different stompboxes to choose from to let you get as creative as you want with your guitar. From familiar choices like wah and fuzz to the more exotic phaser and Lunar Overdrive pedals, you can count on outstanding build quality and performance no matter which Keeley pedal you choose to take for a spin.
