Dean Zalinsky was only 19 years old when he founded his guitar-making business in Chicago in 1976. From the beginning, he earned a reputation for innovation with the radical body shapes of his guitars and advancements in electronics, like his custom-wound pickups. Since then, Dean Electric Guitars have picked up a loyal following and have been heard in the music of Kansas, Heart, Iron Maiden and Def Leppard, just to name a few. Some of Dean's best-known guitars are the 1977 originals: the Dean ML, Dean V and Dean Z. Updated versions of these guitars are still available for those who want to own a piece of guitar history, or maybe follow in the footsteps of one of your guitar heroes - the ML, for example, was a favorite of Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, and Michael Schenker's signature Dean is based on the V. The most famous Dean guitar could be the "Spinning Fur," a wool-covered custom version of the Dean Z, which was commissioned by ZZ Top and appeared in the video for "Legs."

There are plenty of Dean electric guitars for you to choose from, including variants on those three classics as well as a whole slew of other models ranging from entry-level options all the way up to the professional tier. Floyd Rose tremolo bridges come standard on plenty of Dean's guitars, and you have your choice of several signature models, including the double-necked Dave Mustaine model with 6 and 12-string sections and the collectible Rusty Cooley 7-string from the Dean Custom Run series.

If you're a beginner, check out the introductory-level Dean Electric Guitars. Or, if you're an experienced player, you might prefer to start with the higher-end models. What matters most is that you choose the guitar which best suits your tastes for both aesthetics and tone. From the most affordable student model right up to their signature guitars developed in conjunction with world-class performers, Dean guitars have something to offer for any musician.
