There's always a lot of buzz when a renowned luthier comes out with a new series of instruments - especially when it's a luthier as famous as Fender. At the NAMM 2016 show, we got our first glimpse of the Fender Paramount acoustic guitars, a line featuring three classic body shapes that Fender describes as "a new generation of performance acoustic guitars." These instruments are designed for the stage and the studio: for working musicians with discerning tastes in playing feel and sound, who need guitars built to last. Allowing you to express yourself on your own terms is what the Paramount series is all about.
As you'd expect from a workhorse series by Fender, every Paramount acoustic guitar model boasts solid wood construction with quartersawn scalloped "X"-bracing to deliver rich, resonating tone. They've also teamed up with Fishman to jointly design pickups voiced especially for each of the body shapes in the lineup, producing the best possible playing dynamics and faithfully carrying every nuance of the guitar's tone. And of course, each one of these instruments has Fender's legendary design chops to give you the stage presence you deserve.
The three basic body shapes in the Paramount series are the PM-1 Dreadnought (for dynamic tone and powerful projection), the PM-2 Parlor (for fingerstyle players wanting a delicate feel and sound), and the PM-3 Triple-0 (for versatile artists preferring the best of both worlds, with tons of volume from a smaller-body instrument). Each one of these styles comes in two versions: standard and deluxe. Both feature the same high standard of craftsmanship, with the deluxe model opting for slightly more premium materials such as ebony fretboards in lieu of rosewood.
Like the other families of instruments that have come before them, Fender Paramount acoustic guitars have something to offer every guitarist - it's just up to you to decide which one is right for you. Combining homages to Fender's classic 1960s models with high-tech modern preamp technology, these just may be the best guitars for everyday artists that Fender has produced to date. So if you've been waiting for the right time to get that name on your headstock, this could be the perfect time to make the leap!
