About Fender Vintera

Vintage guitars for the modern era. Get the sound and feel of a vintage Fender guitar or bass at a fraction of the cost. Fender Vintera guitars and basses are designed after 1950s, 1960s and 1970s models. However, these guitars and basses do take advantage of modern construction techniques. With this, their playability and consistency is well above their vintage kin. Each decade of Fender guitars and basses has its own iconic features. The aesthetics and tonal qualities of the different periods reflect the needs of the players at the time. They’re also due to the evolution of guitar-making processes, and the musical and cultural shifts of each decade. Vintera captures the essence of each Fender era.

Vintera isn’t Fender’s first attempt to recapture the magic of the past. The Fender Classic series was marketed as vintage instruments for the modern player. Made in Mexico, the discontinued Classic series offered guitars and basses with ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s pickups, necks and more. While similar to the MiM Fender Classic series, Vintera is unique. Fender Vintera also takes advantage of years of Custom Shop reproductions. Over the years, Fender has captured the vibe of each era very well, albeit at a much higher price. Made in Mexico, the Vintera series takes that knowledge to the production line. It’s your chance to add 1950s, 1960s or 1970s Fender magic to your guitar rig.

One of the main advantages of the Vintera series is that Fender took vintage pickups, features and finishes that players love. Fender curated and combined them into affordable, player-friendly instruments. Instead of focusing on a specific model and year, the Vintera series features favorite Fender guitar shapes and specs picked from a number of years within each decade. If you want the stylistic mojo of classic guitars but like a more modern sound and features, this lineup still has you covered. Vintera Modified guitars are hot-rodded with high-output pickups, updated electronics and faster-playing modern neck profiles. Many Vintera Modified models also come with an S-1 switch, which make the pickups out of phase with each other.

Fender Vintera Guitars

You’ll find the Stratocaster, Telecaster, Mustang, Jazzmaster and Jaguar. Each guitar falls under one of three decades: 1950s. 1960s or 1970s. Of course, not every 1960s Fender Stratocaster had the same neck or pickups. The Vintera guitars in each era are a combination of the most popular features and specs of that time period. This gives you a well-rounded approach to the features and feel Fender guitar players experienced in each era. For players who enjoy vintage Fender vibe but prefer modern feel and sound, check out the Fender Vintera Modified guitars. There's a 1950s modified Tele, a 1960s modified Strat, Jaguar and Jazzmaster, and much more.

Vintera Telecasters

The Vintera '50s Tele has all the bite and twang that made the Telecaster a legend. Its single-coil pickups deliver crisp, snarling sound. It has a string-thru-body bridge with three brass barrel saddles. There's also a Vintera '50s Tele Modified, which has classic looks but a modern C-shape neck. The Vintera '50s Tele Modified blends a vintage-style Tele single-coil bridge pickup with a Twisted Tele neck pickup. The Vintera '60s Telecaster has classic Tele growl. It has '60s style single-coil pickups and an early-1960s C-shape neck. The Vintera '60s Tele Modified has a thick C-shape neck and medium-jumbo frets. It also has '60s single-coil pickups with increased output. Vintera '70s Teles have a Wide Range humbucker pickup at the neck position and a '70s style single-coil at the bridge. The result is serious Telecaster punch. The Vintera Telecaster Thinline, Custom and Deluxe models each have a Slim C-shape maple neck and chrome barrel saddles.

Vintera Stratocasters

There's quite a wide selection of Vintera Strats, but stay calm. Each Strat borrows the best features from its era. Vintera Stratocaster Modified models offer the style and feel fo the era with more modern tone. The Vintera ’60s Stratocaster has three crisp-sounding ’60s Strat single-coils and a slightly thicker mid '60s C-shape neck. The Vintera ’60s Modified Strat has many of the same vintage-style features with a Modern C-shape neck. The Vintera ’70s Stratocaster has an Early ’70s C-shape neck and vintage-style frets for classic playing feel.

Vintera Jaguars

Vintera Jaguars combine the best features from each era, but in a way only this Fender offset guitar can. The Vintera ‘60s Jaguar has a pair of ’60s Jaguar pickups. That's a chimey single-coil in the neck and a nastier single-coil at the bridge. It has a Mid ’60s C-shape neck, and a vintage-style Jaguar floating tremolo and bridge. The Vintera ’60s Jaguar Modified has a more modern set of high-output Atomic humbuckers and a Modern C-shape neck.

Vintera Jazzmasters

The Fender Jazzmaster has an important place in the history of Fender guitars. Vintera Jazzmasters capture that vibe and make it available to everyone. The wide single-coil pickups of the Vintera ’60s Jazzmaster are voiced to sound like the originals. Its rich, warm-sounding neck pickup is balanced by its brighter, cutting bridge pickup.

Vintera Mustang Guitars

Among the most playable Fender guitars ever made, but never the most iconic, the Mustang electric earned its Vintera model the hard way. Thousands of young guitarists got started on a Fender Mustang, and the Vintera series brings back its style and sound, more playable than ever.

Fender Vintera Basses

Find your vintage era inspired Precision Bass, Jazz Bass or Mustang bass. Each Vintera bass takes the best features from the 1950s, 1960s or 1970s and combines them. This gives you a combination of the most beloved style and features from your chosen era. Whether you're dreaming of owning a 1950s P Bass, or a 1960s or 1970s J Bass, there's a Vintera bass you'll love. Each represents the best and most popular specs of its era. Particularly if you're new to vintage instruments, Fender Vintera gives you a great baseline (pun intended) for testing authentic vintage basses in the future.

Vintera Precision Bass

For the Vintera 1950s P Bass, the Split Coil has been revoiced. It sounds as punchy as the original. The neck in the Vintera '50s P Bass C profile has a 7.25 inch fretboard radius and 20 vintage-style frets. The vintage-style bridge has four threaded saddles. The tuners are also authentic, offering tuning stability and performance.

Vintera Jazz Basses

The Vintera ’60s Jazz Bass brings one of the best of the best back. It is equipped with all the coveted features that have given the music of that time its special power. It includes the correct neck profile, feel and newly tuned '60s pickups. Look forward to the rumbling growl that made the J Bass a legend.

Vintera Mustang Bass

Similar to the guitar, the Mustang bass was a popular student instrument. Vintera Mustang basses capture its vintage vibe and sound, and make it more playable and consistent than the original. The ‘60s Mustang Bass has a growling and punchy split-coil ’60s-style pickup. It also has a slightly thicker, Mid ’60s C-shape neck, 19 vintage-style frets and a short 30 inch scale.
