The Fender Malibu Vintage California Series Limited-Edition Acoustic-Electric Guitar brings the spirit of 1960s Southern California to life with retro-inspired looks and tone. Designed in collaboration with legendary luthier Roger Rossmeisl, the Malibu embodies Fender's revolutionary design principles with its distinctive headstock, comfortable neck and bold styling. Performance-X bracing and premium tonewoods give the Malibu a focused, nuanced voice. The result is a modern acoustic that pays homage to Fender's storied past.
Performance-X Bracing Unlocks Nuanced Tone
The Malibu's solid Sitka spruce top and ovangkol back and sides are engineered with innovative Performance-X bracing to produce exceptional resonance and balance. The bracing pattern allows the top to vibrate freely, resulting in a sweet, articulated tone with piano-like clarity. The lightweight ovangkol, known for its focused midrange, complements the bright spruce top for a tone that cuts through mixes.
Retro Styling and Playability
With its distinct headstock, tilt-back neck and pearloid block inlays, the Malibu embodies the radical design of 1960s Fender acoustics. The slim-taper V-shaped neck profile and 25" scale length provide a familiar feel for electric players. The bone nut and saddle enhance sustain and harmonic richness. Vintage-style tuners complete the retro vibe.
Onboard Electronics for Stage and Studio
The Malibu features a Fishman Presys VT Plus preamp system with soundhole-mounted controls for shaping its plugged-in tone. Blending an undersaddle piezo and internal microphone, the preamp faithfully reproduces the Malibu's acoustic voice through an amp or recording interface. Seamless switching between the piezo and mic pickup allows you to match the electronics to your needs.
