Parallel Universe Maverick Dorado Electric Guitar

The Fender Parallel Universe Vol. II Maverick Dorado might be the most unique Fender ever made. Based on the Fender Custom, a short-lived solidbody from ’69, the Maverick Dorado copies the style and adds other appointments—Tim Shaw humbuckers, Bigsby B50 and a neck designed to get noticed. If you want to stand out with a pro-grade instrument loaded with personality, the Maverick Dorado is hard to beat.

Unique body design

The Maverick Dorado’s body looks like someone took a Jazzmaster and got slap-happy with a band saw, but in the best way possible. It’s made of alder, finished in nitro and balanced to play standing or sitting. 

Tim Shaw pickups

Hidden under Filter’Tron pickup covers are Tim Shaw humbuckers. These ‘buckers cover a lot of sonic ground, and we think you’ll enjoy exploring the textures in between the extremes.

Other parallel details

There’s no getting around the headstock—it’s different. We think it’s a love it or love it proposition, particularly when you grab the maple neck. Everyone on the Musician’s Friend staff found the thick '60s C-shape profile to be super comfortable. The fretboard is ebony. Fender outfitted the Dorado with a classic Bigsby B50, Adjusto-matic bridge and deluxe cast/sealed tuners with pearl buttons. All of the hardware is covered in nickel/chrome, including the Filter’Tron covers.
