SG Standard with Maestro VOS Electric Guitar

With its thin, two-horned body the Gibson SG Standard addressed two of what Ted McCarty saw as the major issues of the now-retired Les Paul body style: weight and limited upper fret access. The new body shape of the SG Standard was dramatically lighter than the old Les Paul and offered access to the entire fretboard but still delivered the great tone guitarists had come to expect from a Gibson solidbody electric guitar. Les Paul himself didn't like it so he stuck with his original signature guitar and the new Les Paul design was renamed the SG. Even though Les Paul didn't approve of it, countless rockers loved it and made it one of all-time hard rockin' favorites.

The Gibson Custom Shop VOS Series SG Standard has a solid mahogany body and one-piece mahogany neck with the correct long neck tenon and '60s slim taper neck profile. It also has a rosewood fretboard, acrylic trapezoid fingerboard inlays, ABR-1 bridge with Maestro vibrato tailpiece, dual Bustbucker humbuckers, vintage tulip tuners, two volume knobs, two tone knobs, and a 3-way pickup selector. Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the SG Standard VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar.
