Hagstrom is a company with a rich history. Originally a Swedish importer of accordions, the company made history in 1958 when they became the first mass-producers of professional electric guitars outside the United States. Staying true to their past, Hagstrom would deck their electric guitars out in fantastic finishes that were reminiscent of the accordion designs at the time. To this day, they continue to put their own unique spin on the electric guitar that is enjoyed by professionals and hobbyists alike. With over half a century of experience, Hagstrom has developed quite a reputation in the music world. This reputation has led them to work with a seriously impressive list of musicians, from legends to up-and-comers. Ever wonder what artists like Big Country, Max Helyer from You Me At Six, Pat Smear, and Rod Gonzales of Die Ärzte all have in common? They all hit the stage playing beautiful Hagstrom guitars.
Pat Smear is an especially passionate Hagstrom player. Amassing an impressive collection of these guitars, he has recently worked with the company to produce his own Pat Smear Signature Electric Guitar. Built to Pat’s exact specifications (right down to the color and the shape!), this guitar is everything you could want in a stage-ready axe. With the Hagstrom "Custom 58" pickups leading the charge, this versatile instrument roars to life with uncompromising tone, as well as incredible attack and sustain. If you’re a fan of Pat’s work with Nirvana, The Foo Fighters, or even the Germs, then this is the guitar for you.
That’s not all Hagstrom has to offer, though. Their versatile collection of guitars is certain to satisfy any player looking for a new instrument. Are you after a gorgeous solid body guitar with plenty of character? Check out the Super Swede Tremar Electric Guitar. With its coil-tapped humbuckers and revolutionary neck design, this guitar is nothing short of a joy to play. Maybe you’d prefer a hollowbody design? Then plug into the Jazz Model Hl-550 Hollowbody Electric Guitar. This breathtaking beauty is highlighted by a mahogany resonant hollowbody that, combined with the floating custom HF-50 humbucker pickup, provides incredibly warm and rich tones. Sure to capture the hearts and imaginations of guitarists everywhere, you’ll love having this instrument in your collection.
And to be honest, that is only scratching the surface of what Hagstrom offers. Regardless of the choice you make, you can be sure of one thing: when you’re playing a Hagstrom guitar, you’re playing a truly special instrument. That is a fact that will ring out with every note you play.
