The La Patrie line of classical guitars can trace its roots to a tiny luthier shop in La Patrie, Quebec, Canada. Now owned by Godin Guitars and available far beyond the confines of that quiet village, La Patrie instruments still feature tops made from select pressure-tested cedar found exclusively in previously fallen trees averaging 800 years old. The breathable finish allows the wood to age, leading to a better sound the longer you own and the more you play your guitar. Seven models are available in the La Patrie series, namely the Motif, Etude, Concert, Concert CW, Presentation, Collection and Hybrid CW. The most popular model is the Etude, which features wild cherry wood for the back and sides, a mahogany neck and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. The full, rich sound and exceptional range of dynamics make this the perfect classical guitar for beginning and intermediate level players.
The Hybrid CW is a nylon-stringed acoustic-electric instrument for the musician who's looking for a classical feel without being limited by tradition. The unique fingerboard provides more comfort and allows faster playing than most classical fingerboards, while the cutaway body provides easier access to the upper frets.
For something really special, take a look at the Collection. Built by only the most experienced luthiers in Godin's acoustic studio, this is La Patrie's top-of-the-line instrument. The solid rosewood back and sides provide a level of warmth and resonance you'd expect from classical guitars in a much higher price bracket. The neck profile is thinner than most nylon-stringed guitars, providing an exceptional level of comfort for your hand.
Because their line is solely focused on classical guitars, La Patrie is able to create refined instruments of the highest quality. And every model of their nylon string guitars is completed with a detailed rosette and lovely cream binding for a beautiful appearance to match.
