Meet Bogdan, the Cossack choir member with a deep bass vocal range, one of eight singing wooden dolls from Teenage Engineering. Crafted from solid beech with an internal speaker module, each doll can perform pre-composed music or be controlled by a MIDI keyboard, singing solo or with up to fifteen other dolls through BLE signal.

The Teenage Engineering Choir
Featuring eight wooden dolls, they are built to serenade you with a repertoire of choral classics, as well as perform original compositions through midi over BLE. Each member has their own characteristic vocal range that can sing individually or together. 

Behind the Curtain
The pre-programmed repertoire of classic songs have been created and performed using an algorithm based on counterpoint melody. This is a compositional technique that refers to the independent but complementary relationship between two or more lines of melody played at the same time.

Tap, Tilt or Smack
To get the choir started, an interior sensor in the speaker module reacts to vibration and movement, so controlling the choir is a playful experience. Gently tap the doll on its head or on the table to trigger the play or pause functions. You can also tilt the doll left or right to decrease or increase volume accordingly.

The Inspiration
Based on cultures and characters from across the world, every wooden choir doll from Teenage Engineering is unique and has its own vocal tonality. While each is given their own voice type, a single doll can customize their vocal range to sing a dynamic performance. When more than one member of the choir are placed together, they communicate with each other and recognize the choral members in range, joining in a full choral experience.

A Unique OP–1 Field Upgrade
The MIDI compatibility is where the magic really happens. Conduct your choir with op–1 field, Op–z, or any MIDI keyboard with bluetooth connectivity. Users can also connect an ortho remote for wireless control. Connecting one doll pairs the whole choir, instantly singing the notes in your composition. As with any live performance, each set will be a one-of-a-kind experience.
