If you have wanted to get into portable keyboards for a while but have waited to find just the right one to start with here it is”the Yamaha YPT-300. Portable Grand functionality, 482 instrument voices and 106 accompaniment styles, 5-song memory locations for recording performances and practicing lessons, and a large back-lit LCD that displays music score and lyrics are just the beginning of what you get in this great portable instrument.

5-song memory with easy-to-use 2-track recorder
Play back your performance. Just press the Record button before you start, and then you can enjoy it over and over again.

Touch Sensitive
The YPT-300 features 61 keys that respond to your touch. A heavier touch will create a louder sound, a lighter touch will give you a softer one. This means that your keyboard will respond like an acoustic piano”expressive playing begets expressive results.

Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.5)
The YPT-300 features 102 built-in songs for you to learn to play using Y.E.S.5. The songs are separated into left and right hand parts, providing 7 levels of lessons plus a convenient chord dictionary. These keyboard lessons are split into 3 for each hand:
¢LISTEN & LEARN helps you figure out the melody or rhythm of a selected song.
¢TIMING mode allows you to play the melody or chord by pressing any key using the correct timing.
¢WAITING mode stops the playback of a song until you find the correct note and then continues.

The Y.E.S. system also features Lesson Grading which monitors your progress and provides feedback as you practice lessons two and three, and Chord Dictionary which shows you how to play chords, telling you which chords you're playing by displaying the notes and chord name on the LCD screen.

Reverb
Have you ever wanted to know what it's like to play Carnegie Hall? The YPT-300 takes full advantage of Yamaha's DSP experience to give you a taste of that experience. With the touch of a button, the reverb effects can simulate playing in a small room or a large concert hall”there are 10 effects to choose from. In addition, this keyboard offers 4 chorus effects to add a deeper effect to your musical session.

Portable Grand
With the YPT-300 you're only a button away from playing an incredible sounding grand piano. Yamaha digitally sampled their own world-renowned grand pianos to bring the rich, full tones to your portable keyboard. They are perfect for practice, or just enjoying the warmth and clarity that a Yamaha grand piano is famous for.

Voices”General MIDI and XGlite
The YPT-300 features 482 General MIDI compatible voices for you to choose from. Besides the Portable Grand, you'll find a virtual orchestra at your fingertips”trumpets, violins, drums, even a choir. Rather rock out? It has guitars, bass, and drum kits, too.

The YPT-300 also features a large selection of professional sounding voices called XGlite. Only Yamaha has the capacity to support the XGlite voices”offering you even more compatibility with 3rd party OR Yamaha XG software.

Sound Effects Kit
Who said keyboards weren't cool? Wait'll you put the YPT-300 through it's paces. With almost 50 built-in effects to choose from, this keyboard will "laugh" with you, "applaud" for you, and "scream" like the poor dope in a slasher film. It's all up to you, be your own Sound Effect technician.

This Keyboard Surfs!
With built-in Flash ROM capability and a MIDI/USB cable (not included), the YPT-300 can connect to your PC. You can pick and choose songs to download from the Internet into the Flash ROM, then learn to use them using the exclusive Yamaha Education Suite 5. Yamaha has made it easy”no scrolling through menus. Just press the PC button and you're on your way.

General MIDI (GM) Compatible/MIDI IN and OUT for Computer Connectivity
Enjoy the information superhighway on a whole new level. MIDI is the path between your keyboard and the Internet. With GM you have access to thousands of MIDI song files on the internet, which you can then learn.

The YPT-300 features a large, backlit LCD display. This shows off the musical staff and chords as you play.

Auto Accompaniment Styles
Can't decide? The YPT-300 has a built-in auto-accompaniment feature. Just select a style”there are 100 to choose from”then play a note or chord on the left side of the keyboard and play your melody on the right side. The keyboard will create a backup band and follow you through the song. Have a blast experimenting with different styles. Find out how Mozart would sound as a disco star with the simple push of a button.

Polyphony and Multi-Timbrel
Polyphony is the number of sounds a keyboard can make at the same time. Obviously, more is better. However, more sounds means more memory. Many keyboards at this price point only offer 12-note polyphony, but the YPT-300 offers 32 notes of polyphony and will play back 32 different parts or sounds at once (16-part multi-timbrel). That's enough for even the most demanding piece.

The Little things that Count:
Real Stereo Speakers: Just because a keyboard has two speakers doesn't mean that they're truly stereo speakers. However, each of the speakers in the YPT-300 has separate amplifiers with stereo-sampling technology.
Bass ports: A special port on each speaker adds a powerful impact bass sound reproduction.
Metronome: Keep the beat with the built-in, fully adjustable metronome.
Jacks: The YPT-300 features jacks for MIDI In/Out, Sustain Pedal, A/C Power Adapter, and headphones (for private practice).
