When Jimi Hendrix took the stage at Woodstock, there was plenty of unforgettable imagery; his iconic look, his legendary rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, and the way he held his audience in the palm of his hand. What you may not have noticed, however, is the fact that he was playing an upside-down Fender Stratocaster. This is because Jimi was a left-handed guitarist in a time when left-handed guitars were a little more difficult to come by. Imagine being the biggest guitar player in the world and having to "make do" with a guitar not built for you. Well, a lot has changed since 1969, and thanks to Fender's line of left-handed guitars, it's easier than ever for lefties to get guitars that are built just for them. Left-handed guitars are practically mirror images of their right-handed counterparts, built with comfort in mind. If there's a right-handed Fender you like, odds are it is available for a left-hander. For example, check out the American Vintage '52 Telecaster Left Handed Electric Guitar. This guitar is a faithful, left-handed reissue of the Telecaster that started it all for Fender. It features two American Vintage Tele single-coil pickups that will go a long way in helping to shape your distinct tone. Another great left-handed Tele is the American Vintage '64 Telecaster Electric Guitar. This guitar features a slightly more rounded C-Shaped neck as well as staggered bridge pickup pole magnets, making it a truly authentic recreation.
If you're more a fan of Stratocasters, then there are still many left-handed options available to you. The Standard Stratocaster Left Handed Electric Guitar, for example, is a great, entry-level guitar for the novice lefty that delivers that legendary Fender tone at an affordable price. Looking for something a little more representative of a touring professional? Try the American Vintage '65 Stratocaster Left-Handed Electric Guitar. This guitar is an absolutely stunning recreation of the '65 Strat that plays as brilliantly as its predecessor.
The fact is that thanks to Fender, there is no divide between left-handed and right-handed players any more. It's an even playing field. Regardless of your experience level, there is a left-handed Fender guitar for you to hone your skills on, so when you take the stage, you'll be able to deliver your own legendary performance.
