Leo Fender is an absolutely iconic name in the world of music. This is the man, after all, who essentially drew the blueprint for what an electric guitar should look like during his time with the Fender Guitar Company. Though Fender sold his company in 1965, he never stopped designing and producing instruments, and eventually he returned to the creating semi-hollow, hollowbody, and solid-body guitars in full force when he formed G&L Musical Instruments in the late 70s with George Fullerton and Dale Hyatt. G&L share a lot in common with the classic Fender guitars, especially when you look at their body shapes, but G&L guitars feature some distinct modern innovations that really set them apart. Leo Fender once claimed in a print advertisement that the G&L instruments were "The best instruments [he had] ever made," and quite frankly, it’s hard to argue with a legend like Leo. There are some seriously great G&L semi-hollow and hollow body guitars available to you, so you can rest assured that whichever one you pick, it’s going to be a winner. That said, taking some time to check out the different options as well as having an idea of what you’re looking for can go a long way in helping you determine which guitar is perfect for you. Are you finally getting serious about your playing and upgrading your instrument? If so, the Tribute ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow is a great way to become part of the G&L family. This guitar is often described as Leo Fender’s final word on the traditional single-cutaway bolt-on guitar. With a crisp attack and charismatic warmth, this guitar offers incredible versatility for any player.
Of course, if you’re looking for a guitar that truly stands out as the work of a master craftsman, you’ll want to check out the Comanche Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar. The Magnetic Field Design Z-Coil pickups on this guitar are like almost nothing you’ve seen before. Designed by Leo Fender, they definitely deliver. With sparkly brights that are matched only by their incredible lows, these pickups help the Comanche crank out some of the most versatile tones you’ll ever have the pleasure of hearing.
You know the name Leo Fender, and you know the incredible weight that name carries when it comes to guitars. The work he did with G&L represents his crowning achievement. G&L semi-hollow and hollowbody guitars are an incredible testament to Leo Fender’s life work, and you will be proud to own part of it.
