Backed by decades of experience, Epiphone is definitely a luthier with a rich history. That goes back to the pre-World War II era, when they were the biggest competitor to Gibson. At the time, Epiphone's specialty was hollow-body construction, but the post-war years brought a lot of change to the company. That was when they joined the Gibson family and went from competitor to partner, and that brought with it an impressive array of solid-body electric guitars. Today, Epiphone offers alternate versions of classic Gibson instruments alongside its impressive original designs.

One of those Epiphone originals is the Wilshire. This solid-body rocker comes in a few different versions, like the Limited Edition Wilshire Pro and the Wilshire Phant-O-Matic Electric Guitar. If the Wilshire looks familiar to you, that's no surprise: this was one of the instruments that shaped the course of solid-body design and laid the groundwork for all guitars to come. If you're interested in owning a piece of guitar history, this is the axe to do it.

Maybe you'd prefer to try out Epiphone's take on the Gibson classics? No problem - just have a look at any of the Les Paul or SG models that are available here. The Special II is a perfect introduction to the Les Paul series, fitted with Epiphone's own pickups and designed to be accessible to any player, beginner or veteran. To take things up a notch, another version to consider is the Les Paul Tribute Plus, which comes with the same pickups as the Gibson-branded version. For an SG, check out the G-400; it comes in right and left-handed editions, so you can play it naturally no matter which side is your dominant hand.

That's what it all comes down to, really: there's an Epiphone guitar for anybody. Whether you go for a classic like the Wilshire, take the Gibson path with a Les Paul or even follow in the footsteps of a rock legend with a signature model, it's up to you how you want to play. When you find the right Epiphone solid-body electric guitar for you, there's nothing that can stand between you and success on the stage.
