With a history almost 200 years long, C.F. Martin & Co. is a company that's definitely backed by tradition. They're known primarily for their acoustic guitars, but that's not all they bring to the table: they also make their own line of strings. True to their heritage, most Martin strings are for acoustic guitar - but not all; if you play the bass guitar, banjo, mandolin or ukulele, you can find some strings for your instrument too.

If it is a set of acoustic guitar strings you're looking for, the huge variety available from Martin is sure to offer what you need. Most of these strings use classic bronze or phosphor-bronze construction, and the selection of gauges gives you plenty of options for feel, tone and specialty tunings. For educators or guitar professionals who need lots of spares on hand, Martin offers its most popular strings in packs of 3, 6 or even 12 to let you really stock up.

There's a lot to consider when picking out Martin strings, which is a good thing because it means more choice for you. Are you looking for the best durability? Try the Lifespan SP series, which have a coating that helps them last longer than typical strings. Do you want a set that's easier and more agile to fret, for complex play or learning? If so, the FX Flexible Core line is likely the way to go. They come in bronze, phosphor-bronze and silk-and-phosphor, each of which has its own characteristic feel and sound.

For instruments other than the guitar, Martin's strings are fewer but no less impressive. Take the M600 Standard Crystal Nylon Ukulele Strings, for instance. With these, Martin has improved on the typical nylon string by using a fluorocarbon material for better sound and longer life. Another good example of Martin's quality would be the V730 Medium Vega Banjo Strings, which are excellent all-around strings well-suited to every style of banjo playing.

As you look through the selection of Martin strings, one thing you'll notice is that the best part of all may be how affordable they are. It's not every day that you find a set of strings able to deliver such good results while fitting any budget. Martin definitely delivers, though, and you can't go wrong with the options found here.
