Shure is one of the biggest and most widely-trusted mic manufacturers in the business, so it's no surprise if you have a few of their models in your collection. Of course, even the best microphone has room for improvement through the use of the right add-ons, and the legendary Shures are no exception to that fact. When you're looking to make an upgrade to your mic, this roster of Shure microphone accessories is definitely the right place to be - it's got some great options to make your mic even better.
First up in the selection are grilles and windscreens. These are must-have accessories for any microphone that ever goes outdoors, and with Shure's reputation for standing up to the elements, that's somewhere their mics are frequently seen. Check out the RK143G Microphone Grille if your SM58 could use a facelift - and then put an A58WS-GRA Windscreen over it to get rid of unwanted pops, breath and wind noises. Your instrument mic isn't out in the cold, either: if you use an SM57 or 545, the A2WS Windscreen is a great addition. There are plenty more, too... so go ahead and take a look.
No matter how or where you use a Shure microphone, something that goes without saying is that it needs to be held in position. You can do that with your hand easily enough if you're a vocalist, but when instruments come into the equation, things get trickier. Mounts like the A75M and A56D will take care of that, allowing you to put a mic basically wherever you need it. For topping a standard microphone stand, check out the A53M and A55M isolation mounts: by separating your mic from vibrations traveling up the stand, they'll make your sound cleaner and better.
Do you use a Shure Beta 181? If so, one more series of accessories you should take a look at are the replacement capsules for that mic. Available in bidirectional, omnidirectional, cardioid and supercardioid, they give you the opportunity to completely customize the response pattern of your Beta 181.
For updating a recording or live sound configuration, this lineup of Shure microphone accessories is the first place any Shure mic owner should look. From windscreens to isolation mounts, improving the performance of a microphone is, more often than not, a simple matter of treating it to the right accessories.
