3.0 of 5 stars (1)

Ever since its debut in the mid-1970s, Charvel has been a name closely associated with well-built professional guitars. Like many other guitar makers including its parent company Fender, Charvel grew from a humble repair shop into a renowned luthier with creations sought-after by guitarists everywhere. It all started with making bodies, necks and other wood parts for a number of guitar manufacturers in the '70s, which led Charvel to produce Stratocaster revamps and then its own original designs, attracting plenty of attention. Some of the artists that were drawn to Charvel guitars include Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Richie Sambora, Vinnie Vincent, George Lynch, and Eddie Ojeda. This who's who of guitarists contains just a few of the names that Charvel added to its artist roster in the 1980s, securing a place as one of the leading guitar makers of that iconic decade.

Today, the most well-known Charvel guitars are the San Dimas models, aimed at bringing Charvel back to its roots with tone and build quality reminiscent of the first models the company produced under its own name. Check out the Floyd Rose-equipped SD1-2H if you like a tremolo bridge on your axe, or the SD1-HS if you prefer a hard-tail bridge. Both of these guitars have 22 jumbo frets, one-piece maple necks and true-to-the-original San Dimas body profiles.

Most of the guitars you'll find in this section belong to the Desolation series, which is Charvel's main lineup. These guitars come in a ton of styles. The Skatecaster, for example, is inspired by the classic Charvel surfcaster guitars of the early 1990s. On the other hand, the Star models look like an Explorer body turned up to 11. The look of your guitar is as personal as its sound, and these axes give you plenty of different options to express yourself.

Any Charvel guitar is an instrument that you can be proud to own. Backed up by the reputation that they've built on since day one, Charvel is still setting the standard for electric guitars today.
