Overview

Limited-edition recreation of Terry Kath's legendary Telecaster guitar.

The limited-edition Fender Custom Shop Terry Kath Telecaster pays tribute to the absolute brilliance of the late, great Chicago guitarist Terry Kath. Kath pioneered never-before-heard guitar tones by experimenting with unconventional setups, heard on classics like "25 or 6 to 4." His main guitar, a modified 1966 Telecaster, became iconic itself—plastered in stickers with customized hardware. The Custom Shop limited-edition Terry Kath Telecaster authentically recreates Kath's legendary guitar in exacting detail, from the Pignose stickers down to the gaffer's-tape-sealed body in this special 50-piece run. It's a meticulously crafted homage to one of rock's most influential guitar innovators.

Loaded With Distinctive Features Kath Pioneered

Just like Kath's original guitar, this limited-edition Terry Kath Telecaster hosts a slew of distinctive modifications. It sports a synchronized Stratocaster tremolo bridge in place of the traditional Tele bridge, providing expressive pitch control. The neck pickup is a beefy humbucker, while the bridge pickup is a traditional single coil, allowing an array of tones. The control plate is reversed, and the guitar has three customized "wing" string trees and unique tuners. With its one-of-a-kind setup and electronics, the Terry Kath Telecaster gives you the tools to conjure Kath's legendary style.

Authentically Aged Finish Mirrors Kath's Original Guitar

The Terry Kath Telecaster features an expertly aged Vintage White finish, replicating the look of Kath's well-loved original guitar. The finish checking and relic'ing authentically mirrors Kath's guitar after years of intense use. The neck profile, hardware and other elements are also aged to resemble the original guitar down to the smallest scratch. From its worn finish to the Pignose stickers, the Terry Kath Telecaster looks and feels like Kath's own instrument, untouched by time.

Powerful Pickup Configuration Provides Myriad Tones

This Tele is loaded with a Curtis Novak humbucking neck pickup and a Custom Shop Hand-Wound '67 single coil in the bridge position. This configuration provides a wide spectrum of tones, from warm and round to biting and twangy. Dial in the chiming clarity of the bridge single coil or the thick, sustaining growl of the neck humbucker. With the 3-way selector switch, you can blend both pickups for the massive tone that helped define Kath's genre-defying sound. The Volume and Tone knobs give you further tonal control.

Synchronized Tremolo Delivers Kath's Unmistakable Sound

The Terry Kath Telecaster features a synchronized Stratocaster tremolo bridge in place of the traditional Tele bridge. This lets you expressively bend and vibrate notes, an important element of Kath's playing style. The American Professional Tele neck and mid-'60s vintage-spec frets also provide smooth, comfortable playing feel. Whether emulating Kath's legendary leads or crafting your own sound, the Terry Kath Telecaster gives you the tools to play with passion and innovation.

With only 50 pieces available worldwide, the limited-edition Terry Kath Telecaster is a must-have for Chicago fans, guitar history aficionados and players looking for a truly unique instrument. Experience the guitar that powered iconic tracks like "25 or 6 to 4" and "Free Form Guitar." Order the Fender Custom Shop limited-edition Terry Kath Telecaster today.
