Vintage-inspired design meets modern Gibson craftsmanship.
The Gibson Theodore Standard electric guitar brings a vintage 1957 design by Gibson President Theodore McCarty to life with modern Gibson quality. Crafted with a solid mahogany body and neck, it provides a balanced tone and comfortable feel. With double Florentine cutaways, you'll have easy access to all 22 frets on the rosewood-capped neck. The '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus humbucking pickups produce singing sustain and a diverse range of vintage-flavored tones. It even includes a vintage-style hardshell case to protect your investment.
Vintage Appeal With Modern Gibson Craftsmanship
While only previously available as a limited Custom Shop model, the Theodore Standard lets you own an electric guitar based on vintage 1957 drawings by legendary Gibson president Theodore "Ted" McCarty. It carries the torch of innovation McCarty brought to Gibson over 60 years ago. With its solid mahogany body and neck, the Theodore Standard has a balanced weight and resonant tone. The slim neck profile and double-cutaway design make it a joy to play. Gibson's modern build quality and attention to detail honor McCarty's vision while making this a guitar you can rely on for years to come.
Crafted With a Mahogany Body and Neck for Comfort and Sustain
The Theodore Standard has a body and neck made of mahogany, a tonewood cherished for its balanced feel and impressive sustain. Mahogany's moderate density lends the guitar a comfortable, familiar weight you can play for hours. It also enhances resonance and sustain, allowing your notes to ring out with fullness. You'll appreciate how the mahogany construction gives you singing, expressive tones, perfect for emotive solos. The mahogany neck has a smooth, fast feel that invites fluid playing all across the fingerboard.
Double Florentine Cutaways Grant Easy Upper-Fret Access
The Theodore Standard's body has elegant double Florentine cutaways that let you access the highest notes with ease. The deep cutaways give you room to solo confidently up and down the neck, even when reaching for the top frets. You'll love being able to play intricate lead lines without contorting your hand or worrying about accidentally muting notes. The cutaways make the Theodore Standard exceptionally accommodating for versatile players who utilize the entire fingerboard.
Exceptional Sustain and Tonal Range With '57 Classic Pickups
A pair of powerful '57 Classic humbuckers give the Theodore Standard exceptional sustain and tonal versatility. The '57 Classic in the neck position produces round, sweet tones that are perfect for blues and jazz. The '57 Classic Plus bridge pickup provides added output and midrange growl, ideal for searing classic rock leads. With the 3-way pickup selector, you can move from crystalline cleans to rich overdrive. And the push/pull coil-split lets you get single-coil snap and chime at the flip of a switch.
