Overview

A quality affordable acoustic-electric guitar for smaller-handed players.

The Yamaha FSX800C acoustic-electric guitar brings together the bold, balanced tone of solid Sitka spruce and nato with the plugged-in convenience of Yamaha's System-66 pickup. Designed for players seeking amplified acoustic sound in a nimble concert-size package, this single-cutaway FSX800C model makes it easy to reach higher frets while retaining the focused voice that's made Yamaha's FS guitars a top choice for fingerstyle players.

Project Your Tone With a Solid Sitka Spruce Top

Sitka spruce is treasured for its complexity and dynamics, traits that come through in the FSX800C's crisp highs, rich midrange and tight low-end response. Strummed rhythms ring clearly and fingerpicked passages bloom with harmonic detail. The solid spruce top vibrates freely to produce notes that sustain and project beautifully. This lightweight, resonant wood helps the FSX800C's slim concert-size body deliver a surprisingly full voice.

Balanced Tone With Nato Back and Sides

To complement the organic sound of solid spruce, Yamaha chose nato, also called okoume, for the FSX800C's back and sides. Its focused midrange and rounded lows blend with spruce for great balance across the tonal spectrum. Compared to rosewood, nato produces a lighter, more intimate sound that's ideal for detailed fingerstyle playing. The FSX800C's slim concert-size body further focuses the nato's midrange, giving your playing a clear presence in the mix.

Plug In the Yamaha System-66 Pickup

When you're ready to amplify your acoustic tone, the Yamaha System-66 pickup accurately captures the FSX800C's natural sound. The under-saddle piezo pickup and preamp let you plug into an acoustic guitar amp or PA system to project your sound. Shape your amplified tone with onboard bass, midrange and treble controls and a chromatic tuner. The System-66 runs on convenient AA batteries for consistent amplified performance.

Comfortable Size With a Single Cutaway

The FSX800C's concert-size body is designed for playing comfort, thanks to its slimmer proportions compared to a dreadnought. Your arm can easily reach around the contoured body, making the FSX800C feel almost like an electric guitar. The single cutaway opens up access to the upper frets so you can play solos and high lead lines with ease.
