There's a certain pattern among the greatest guitar-makers in the world: they're often born out of repair shops that turn into something more. That's exactly what happened to Charvel's Guitar Repair in Azusa, California. Thanks to Wayne Charvel's impressive craftsmanship, his shop earned a swift reputation for superior custom finishing and upgrades. With his work in such high demand, it only made sense for him to go independent.
Charvel's roots as a repair and upgrade shop can definitely be seen in this lineup of Charvel solid-body electric guitars. Inspired by classic models but dressed up with customized parts and individual touches, these instruments show without a doubt that you really can improve on a good thing. One of Charvel's earliest guitars was the "superstrat," a reimagined Stratocaster that turned out to be a hit with metal legends like Edward Van Halen, Warren DeMartini, Randy Rhodes, Vinnie Vincent and Richie Sambora. The newer Charvel models have attracted similar attention, played by the likes of Mike Martin from All That Remains, Terry Balsamo from Evanescence and El Hefe from NoFX.
There are Charvel solid-body electric guitars fit for any player, so don't be intimidated! If you're looking for your first axe, check out beginner-friendly options like the Desolation Skatecaster 3 or Double Cutaway 2. These instruments put out great tone, have fantastic visual styling and they're playable enough to be mastered by even the newest players. Once you've got a bit of experience under your belt, you'll be ready to move on to more advanced guitars like the San Dimas SD1-2H and SoCal SC1-2H. And if you're looking for a real eye-catching instrument to boost your stage presence, consider the Charvel Desolation DST1-FR Star Electric Guitar.
No matter your personal style, Charvel has a solid-body electric guitar that's the perfect fit. It wasn't by accident that they came by their great reputation, and the Charvel standards for build quality and design definitely come through in all of the instruments you'll find right here.
